High School Memories – After 55 Years

I (Rickey Bernhardt) have known John Young for over 65 years. He can easily be considered one of the most successful graduates from our class. You may know that John is a member of both the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame and the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame (see John here). He has received numerous other honors and been recognized for the quality of his work throughout the country. I have had the opportunity of traveling to other cities and I have never been surprised to turn on the television and hear John’s unique voice doing the voiceover. It is always a relaxing and satisfying feeling to hear John’s voice and that continues to this day. 

However, to us, John has always been just John. I have constantly enjoyed John’s great memories with emails that took me directly to my childhood and memories that are so vivid in John’s mind. After our 55^th Reunion, John provided us a perspective of Glencliff and the years since. While he sent it out through our class email, I asked John if he would let me post his thoughts (in John’s unique way) to make sure that we all had access to John’s recollection. I have also included the remarks from Dan Haynes, our Student Council President.
